Museums in Amsterdam

Amsterdam has over 50 of excellent museums. The Van Gogh Museum is a must for anyone interested in the artist’s work. On the same square is the 250-room Rijksmuseum, which contains among its treasures a handful of exquisite Vermeers and one of the best Rembrandt collections in the world. If you are in to history you will find there are a lot of interesting Museums to visit.
The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well-known museum you should not forget to visit when you are staying in Amsterdam. The are many old historic buildings in Amsterdam like the Oude Kerk (old Church) and the Nieuwe kerk (New Church) which have a rich history and there are many, many grachten panden (channel buildings) which date from the 18 th century you can visit. Free or Discounted:

If you love museums and plan to visit at least 4 or 5 of them during your stay in Amsterdam, you have three options to save money on entrance fees.
Museum Year Pass: Best option if you want to visit many museums — for free
Museum Boat: Provides up to 50% discount on entrance to museums along its route
I Amsterdam Card: Comes with other benefits, such as discounts at attractions and restaurants, and
free use of the public transport system.

Most Museums Don’t Do Mondays:  With the exception of the Rijksmuseum (the Netherlands’ National Museum, which carries nearly 1 million works of art - including Rembrandt’s famous Nightwatch), the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum (literally, Municipal Museum, but in fact the National Museum of Modern Art) most museums are closed on mondays.
